Phone not charging? Try this before replacing the port
Not every phone that won't charge needs a new part. Try these steps in order; you may fix it yourself.
1. Try another cable and charger
Cables and chargers fail the most. Test yours on another device, or try a working cable on your phone.
2. Check the port
Shine a light into the charging port. If you see dust or pocket lint, gently lift it out with a thin wooden toothpick. Don't use metal or a pin; they can damage the contacts.
3. Restart the phone
Sometimes the fault is in the software, not the part. Restart, then try charging again.
4. Watch for a moisture warning
Some phones stop wired charging when they detect moisture in the port. Let the phone dry in a dry place, and don't charge it by cable until the warning is gone.
5. Try wireless charging
If your phone supports it and charges normally on a wireless pad, the problem is most likely the charging port itself.
When does the port need replacing?
If you've tried all of the above and it still won't charge, or only charges when you move the cable, the port needs replacing. Order charging port replacement.
